NEW DATE FOR NEWCASTLE GIG
After a recent bout of acute laryngitis JET lead singer Nic Cester has been diagnosed as having nodules on his vocal chords resulting in the postponement of some Europe dates and a date change to their sold out Newcastle headline show.JET have been forced to move their forthcoming Newcastle show on 1st November to the day before – 31st October – and would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to anybody. All tickets for the new date are still valid and any refunds can be obtained at the box office or at the place of purchase.
The band have also been forced to postpone part of their European tour, from 14 to 25 October. Lead singer Nic Cester developed acute laryngitis in New York recently, and after seeking professional advice in London was given the unfortunate news that he had developed nodules on his vocal chords. After the opening night of the MTV Gonzo tour at Birmingham on Friday 13th October and a second opinion, Nic was forced to accept that continuing the tour would not only be excruciatingly painful, it would also permanently damage his voice.
However, Nic has been told he will be better in time for the band’s UK dates, which kick off on 26th October with an appearance in London at the BBC Electric Proms. Jet then embark on a sold out UK tour and release a new single ‘Bring It On Back’ on 20th November, taken from their new album ‘Shine On’.
JET POSTPONE EUROPE DATES
It is with much regret that JET have been forced to postpone part of their current European tour, from 14 to 25 October. Lead singer Nic Cester developed acute laryngitis and completely lost his voice in New York two weeks ago. The band postponed two shows (which have now been re-scheduled) and Nic rested his voice, before completing the rest of their US run. However, Nic's voice was not 100% so he sought specialist advice in London on Friday, 13 October where he was given the unfortunate news that he has developed nodules on his vocal chords as a result of returning to the live arena before he had completely recovered. The doctor advised that Nic stop singing immediately. A second specialist opinion was sought later that day, which confirmed the original advice. It was with great reluctance that the decision was made late on Friday evening to postpone the next two weeks of European shows. The good news is that the nodules are small and with rest and treatment they should disappear completely. Nic will now spend the next two weeks in London undergoing specialist treatment before recommencing their world touring schedule in support of new album Shine On, which was released last week.
JET would like to apologise to those fans who have already purchased tickets, and the band has vowed to make up all missed shows.
"On behalf of the whole band, I just wanted to write a message to those who had tickets to the European dates we've had to cancel. There isn't much more I can say other than that we are so sorry we've had to do this. Everyone is extremely frustrated, no-one more so than Nic. I know that everyone in the band was looking forward to this leg of the tour immensely, as we've been trying our hardest to make up for the dates we had to cancel last time, due to our father falling ill. We're so excited to be playing new songs and it's a huge disappointment to have to wait this out again...so soon after cancelling those American dates as well. However, it is important to mention that we all feel this is a necessary evil, because ultimately, we just want Nic to return to full health, so that we can make up the dates ...we'd rather wait until we were %100 ready to deliver, and make the show something memorable, so thank you all for your understanding, we will see you all soon!" Chris Cester
The following dates have been postponed and will be re-scheduled.
14 October - Elysee Montmatre, Paris
15 October - Melkweg, Amsterdam
16 October - Grosse Freiheit, Hamburg
17 October - Postbahnhof, Berlin
19 October - Muffathalle, Munich
20 October - New Age Club, Treviso
21 October - Rolling Stone, Milan
22 October - City Halle, Winterhur
24 October - Razzamataza, Barcelona
25 October - Arena, Madrid
Tickets for original shows will be valid for re-scheduled dates. A further announcement regarding re-scheduled dates will be made shortly.

JET REVEAL ALL ABOUT NEW ALBUM
Jet are on course to release the as-yet-untitled follow up to 2003's 'Get Born'.The band worked with producer David Sardy, who helped the band whittle down 40 songs to 15.
Songwriting for the album began in the Barbados in December of 2005 and then moved to Melbourne when family tragedy struck.
Frontman Nick Cester and Jet drummer Chris Cester's father passed away from cancer, which affected the tone of songs on the album.
"The ballads are a lot deeper," Nick Cester told Rolling Stone. He said that new track 'Shine On' was written for his brother and his cousins.
He added: "It's all resulted in a journey. It was a way to vent a lot of issues, feelings and anger. We ran a whole gamut of emotions over the last few years. You don't bury dad and go out and write the fucking party classic."
Tracks set to be included on the album include 'Eleanor' described as "having an Everly Brothers vibe", the Captain Beefheart-esque 'Holiday' and 'Stand Up' described by Cester as: "the biggest rock song you've ever heard".
The band also felt pressure after the success of their debut. Nick admitted: "The first time around, we were a pop band from Melbourne, and this time around we're playing much bigger venues. We wanted to make sure the new album was going to be five times better... Obviously, we're still Jet. We're still a rock band."
The album is scheduled for release on 26th September 2006.
Letter from JET H.Q
SOMEWHERE IN LOS ANGELESRightio citizens...right now, somewhere in Los Angeles.... things are changing. Some of you, not naming any names, have ignored our peaceful offerings of news from hillside manor. These 'passive protests' have been noted by the inner sanctum. Your phone is probably tapped right now. The van outside your street is NOT from the telecommunication company which services your local area. You were right...it IS too hot for hats, long jackets, sunglasses and strap-on beards. People in high places in the Jet fraternity
are talking. There are silent members of the said organization moving into position...you KNOW what we're talking about...the old triangulation of crossfire. It's been a long time, but we are not afraid to use it. No-one will even notice when you disappear. Your mother will weep in the garden, but she will move on. Your father, he never liked you anyway. We ARE your only hope. Tacitly accept our dominion or wander aimlessly in discontent for
the rest of your years. Remember our malevolence is infinite.
The people involved in the making of Jet's second album wish to avoid a scene. What they ask, is that the next time you ask a question about tour dates and album release details...you think before you do it, you never know if the breath you drew to ask the question is your last...These are dark days after all. So, now that you know what happens to naughty children...lets get on with it;
The words and sounds of tomorrow are being recorded today kids. And don't f-----g forget it.
JET
PS; thanks for the kind remarks and questions. It's nice to be loved. An orthodox statement of activity will follow soon. JET IS COMING!!!
CONDUCTING OUR SELF WITH DECORUM AND IMPROVING OUR HILLSIDE MANNERS
We are deep beyond the looking glass that is album 2 my friends, and are alas past the point of no return..What's that I here you say?? Enough with this nonsense, information is what we seek!!!
Well you asked for it and here it is..
As you all know, or should all know!! We've tracked 20 cracking songs. Weare now happy to tell you that that not only do we have drums and bass finished but that we are well into guitar overdubs. That means we are inundated with a cache of beautiful vintage guitars and amps. We admit that this maybe interesting info for musicians and perhaps boring fornon-musicians. But as we are of the latter bunch it has been lovingly included.
As summer approaches and the sun intensifies here in L.A. We are all working on our smashing moon tans here in the dimly lit epicenter of Hillside Manor Studios and working on our White Russian mixes. Cameron and Nic are currently working with Sardy and the studio boffins on guitars for a raucous rocker that is going to destroy your constitution (but shall remain nameless for the time being). As you can surely understand we are so excited to hear our songs come together right before our eyes. well ears, I should say.
Other Jet activity this week included some 'proper' discussions about album title and art work for the cover. But we are not at liberty to divulge thisinformation as we need to keep some surprises for you guys...I mean, we know we're in another paradigm shift and all.and that the world is getting closer and that the people want access and blah blah blah.but that's no fun now, is it?
That's about it for now ladies and Gentlemen. Stay tuned, and for goodness sake, be good to your mothers...they bore you after all. More info, odds andsods to follow.

GREETINGS FROM HILLSIDE MANOR
It has begun! Working out in the valley for 4 weeks at the ironically named rehearsal space, "Mates", the band have managed to whittle the 27 songs down to 20. Next door to the Carrs, members of QOTSA (working on Eagles of DeathMetal) and *ahem*, Asia...prog rockers from a strange time known to all as "the 80's"...we were joined in that last week at Mates by the witty and handsome Stephen Paul Hesketh who quickly re-acquainted himself with the rest of us.The next week we loaded in and began work at the legendary Sunset Sound, on what will be our second record. 8 days later, all of the drums were tracked. It seems weeks of rehearsal have paid off.
So...we've now moved on up to Dave Sardy's studio, "Hillside manor", wherewe will probably remain for the duration of the recording.
Mark is busy beating his original bass tracks that he began at Sunset, and at this moment is working on 'Hey Kids', which we have decided to give a once over, having never put it to bed the first time around. Things are happening a lot faster than everyone expected, which gives us more time to play around with album titles and artwork. Some of the lads went out to see a secret performance (300 people!) by Prince at the Roosevelt hotel on the weekend. Others went out to Silverlake and saw a new band (who for legal reasons will remain nameless) who's weird and spindly take on the bluesier side of 60's rock went down very well. Oh, and Dom is back...camera in hand filming odds and sods for future surprises. That's all for now.....
JET
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY FROM JET
While Jet are busy recording the new record they have taken a few photos to share with everyone on the website. Some photos are from the studio, some from dinner breaks and a few of Cam the Birthday boy!! A couple of the guys took a ride out to the Joshua Tree National Park for a day of R&R&RnR, in Jet's case thats rest, relaxation, rock n roll!! We hope you enjoy the photos & Jet wish you a very happy Valentines Day!!! Do nice things for the people you love!!! Stay tuned for more messages and photos!!LETTER FROM LOS ANGELES
Boys and Girls! This is a friendly reminder to say that yes...Jet is still alive...alive and well!!!
After 2 wonderful years in the limelight...we are calling it quits.
Kidding.
After 2 wonderful years in the limelight and hundreds of shows all around the world, we are delighted to announce that we have finally commenced work on our as yet untitled 2nd album. We are extremely excited. Some questions you might have been asking are about to be answered...so, without any further ado...Jet...the public awaits you...
**Yes...we are again working with the ubiquitous Dave Sardy of Brooklyn NYC. Look him up on line...he's really attractive. And really married.
**We have taken a long time with this baby...because everytime we got together, more and more songs piled on...so we couldn't decide which ones to work on. Not the worst of problems.
**There are 27 songs in the pipeline. You wont hear all of them on this record.
**We started writing these songs in Barbados, just after Homebake Dec 2004.Next we met to write in Nth Brookfield, (Mass) at the famed Longview farm studio. We met in LA twice. Chris was very happy. We also did some work in Sth Melbourne where we spent some time writing amazing songs next to some of the least amazing bands on Earth. Nic and Mark were happy. Although, we have all been back to Australia periodically in the last 2 years...and can say that it is always hard to leave.
**We will be recording the album in Los Angeles, as we did with Get Born...but not in the same studios. We could tell you which ones...but we're not going to.
**The release date will depend on exactly when we are satisfied that the record is far superior to Get Born. We can tell you that this will be sooner than later, and it will definately be somewhere mid-year. We're so much closer than before.
**That last sentance is a line from a new song. Not a love song.
Lastly, we would like to thank you all for being so patient. We have been working on this record for a long time and feel we are finally in a place to start becoming a part of the human race again...hence this letter.
2004 was a bittersweet year for us. Everything we worked so hard for was shadowed by the loss of the Cester brother's father, John. I think you would agree with us when we say, loud and clear... Fuck Cancer. He died proudly and he died bravely. Of course, he made sure that the last thing he did...was the exact opposite of Get Born. It took the band a long time to overcome the passing of John Cester. Cam muncey has been a regular in the Cester house from the age of 15, so it extended beyond the family.
Finally...out of the gloom...and with rising momentum, we are writing an album that will live on forever, as a dedication. (it is not a 'theme' record) We haven't written better songs...and they challenge us day and night. When it rains, it pours.
We are working to make this record a record to remember, and although it has been long...and been sometimes difficult...the end result will be worth it all. Cant wait to see you all...
Thanks again,
with love,
Nic Cester, Chris Cester, Cameron Muncey and Mark Wilson
PS: Now that we are 'officially' back at work...keep your eyes open for more regular updates and photos.

JET RELEASE 'FAMILY STYLE' DVD
Jet are set to release their DVD 'Family Style' through Warner Music Vision on November 29th. This is their first concert DVD and captures Jet live at the Carling Academy Islington in London in February 2004.The DVD presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound shows the band blasting their way through hits such as 'Cold Hard Bitch' and 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl'; the song which first permeated the nation's consciousness thanks to the Vodafone advert featuring David Beckham.
If their live set only wets your appetite then fear not, for 'Family Values' also includes a selection of promo videos for five of their singles including 'Look What You've Done' and 'Rollover DJ' and an exclusive Tour Documentary. The 'fly on the wall' film is directed by documentary maker Luke Gilchrist and captures the essence of one of today's hottest Australian rock bands as they embarked on their 2003 UK tour. Filmed from the perspective of a fellow traveller the film gives the viewer a unique opportunity to see the band behind the scenes.
Described as 'The hottest band in rock' by NME, the Melbourne four-piece have come a long way since signing to Elektra in 2002. Their uncompromising, raw rock sound has won them worldwide critical acclaim and Get Born has achieved gold status in the UK and America, went platinum in their native Australia and became a top twenty smash hit in the UK. Their rock and roll status was further confirmed when in early 2003 they were asked to support The Rolling Stones on the Australian leg of their world tour.
This year Jet toured the UK, are co-headlining a sold-out US tour with The Vines and this eagerly-awaited DVD is released on 29 November. As they continue to receive worldwide critical acclaim it is clear that Nic Cester (guitar/vocals), Chris Cester (drums), Cameron Muncey (guitar/vocals) and Mark Wilson (bass) are rock and roll legends in the making.
JUMBO JET
Jet are planning to put some heavyweight work into the follow-up to their debut album 'Get Born' - by piling on the pounds. The band, who have been rigorously touring their first LP throughout the year, are now planning to head into the studio to begin work on their second.
Bassist Mark Wilson revealed: "I will start my regimen to get extremely fat, 'cause I got a couple months off. I want to be one of those guys who they have to take the front of their house off and get a crane in and put them in the back of a flatbed truck 'cause they're too big to fit in the ambulance. That's my goal in life."
According to Wilson, Jet are itching to get back into the studio, saying that they have been playing the 'Get Born' songs for years.
He told MTV: "We've been playing these songs for many years - even before the album was recorded, 'cause these were the songs we got our deal with. We've been touring for a long time, and after you've been doing it for a while, all you want to do is write new songs and record new songs."
Guitarist Cameron Muncey added: "If we had new songs to play, it would be really nice."
However, despite extensive touring, the band have not been writing tracks for the new release on the road. Wilson said: ""We don't write much when we're touring. Some bands can't write on the road 'cause you write a lot of ballads like, 'I miss my girlfriend and I want to go home'."
As previously reported on NME.COM Jet are planning to release a brand new DVD in the US on November 15 and will include full concert of the band - filmed in London - and what Muncey calls a "documentary of us driving around in a van in England.".
WATCH THE U.S LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE VIDEO
The U.S version of the video for 'Look What You've Done' has been posted in the AUDIO/VIDEO section.JET HEAD OUT INTO THE DESERT?
Jet are gearing up to start work on the follow-up to last year's debut album 'Get Born. The band - who recently swept the board at the annual Australian Recording Industry Association Awards (ARIAs) (October 17) winning six of the seven categories they were nominated in - are considering heading into the desert to get their inspiration.
Guitarist Cameron Muncey told NME.COM: "A lot of songs are written and it's all sort of coming together. We've had a month off - we're just going to come back and do this (Australian tour), then have another month off, and then I think there's talk of France or some shit...going to the desert maybe!"
He added: "Something interesting, something to make us inspired. Something to throw ourselves in the deep end again - it's good to get alone. There's no time limit, we're our own masters - there's no one forcing us or telling us what to do. We're looking forward to looking forward!"
Muncey would not confirm when the band would be returning to the UK, merely saying: "We'll be back with new songs, some time next year!"
JET SWEEP THE BOARD AT THE "AUSTRALIAN BRITS"
Jet's world domination continues, with the band sweeping the board at the annual Australian Recording Industry Association Awards (ARIAs) at Sydney's Superdome. The Melbourne rockers won six out of the seven categories they were nominated in, only losing out for the Highest Selling Album accolade to 'Neighbours' star Delta Goodrem.
But the band - who also performed their hit single 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl' at the ceremony - triumphed with their nominations for awards including Album Of The Year and Best Group, dedicating the latter to their families after the death of frontman and drummer Nic and Chris Cester's father earlier in the year.
Speaking exclusively with NME.COM after the awards, guitarist Cam Muncey said winning awards in their home country gave the band a sense of "national pride".
He said: "Recently we went to some awards in England and I can see the pride that the English take in their own bands and their own music, and it's the same here - there's a certain amount of national pride in that sort of stuff. These are our Australian awards - it means something to us as Australians, but probably fuck all to anyone else!"
Jet are due to begin an Australian tour in Melbourne later this week, but Muncey said he was unsure as to when fans in the UK could next expect to see the band, saying only that "we'll be back with new songs, some time next year!"
The 6 awards were:
Album Of The Year - Jet 'Get Born'
Single Of The Year - Jet 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl'
Best Group - Jet 'Get Born'
Breakthrough Artist Album - Jet 'Get Born'
Breakthrough Artist Single - Jet 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl'
Best Rock Album - Jet 'Get Born'
'GET BORN' GOES PLATINUM IN UK
After a year and a half of hard graft and high jinx, Jet have officially passed the platinum sales mark for their debut album, Get Born, on the first anniversary of its UK release. This platinum disc is in addition to Get Born going five times platinum in Australia, platinum in the US and various other places around the globe that help take the worldwide sales to 2.5 million.
The band's rapidly bulging trophy cabinet is now also home to an MTV VMA for 'Best Rock Video', which Chris Cester dedicated to his and brother Nic's "late, great father, John Cester".
Jet have also been nominated for three Radio Music Awards, the dubiously titled 'Woodie Of The Year' award at the inaugural MTV-U awards and with the Australian ARIA nominations due tomorrow, expectancy is riding high in camp Jet.
The band are now taking some time off and will re-commence touring with Australian shows at the end of October. The band will also be playing shows in the US before decamping to the studio to record the follow-up to Get Born.
In the meantime, you can feast your eyes on the Jet DVD entitled Family Style, which is scheduled for a UK release through Warner Vision in November.
